DESCRIPTION:Eclectic Music are super excited to present a world premiere saxophone concerto with the Eclectic Orchestra as part of Hull Jazz Festival 2024. \n \nArticle By Hull Culture and Leisure Arts Development Team\nExciting new musical collaborations have been commissioned by Hull City Council Arts Development in partnership with J-Night\, Hull Jazz Festival with funding from Hull City Council and Arts Council England. \nAfter the success of this music development project ‘Out of the Box’ in 2023\, Hull City Council’s Arts Development in partnership with J-Night and Hull Jazz Festival have commissioned a group of local artists to co-create new music in cross genre collaborations for 2024. \nPart of the Council’s Arts Development work to support the development of local talented artists\, it values the process of collaboration across genres. \nSupport for the creation of new work is highly valued by the music sector. Arts Development recognizes the value of the creative nourishment that occurs when artists from different genres collaborate. Artistic collaboration increases skill and pushes people’s boundaries\, getting musicians to work ‘Out of the Box’. \nFollowing a competitive round of applications\, J-Night and Hull City Council Arts Development are delighted to announce the successful applicants for further special collaborative commissions in 2024. \n‘Out of the Box’ 2024 enables new work to be created in the following five pairings of artists that have not worked together previously:  Daniel Thompson and Sam Mavor; Joseph Cox and Gary Hammond; Nathan Simm and Paul Sargeson; Claire Holdich and Pheobe Riley Law; Ysabelle Wombwell and Joe Mooney.  Their exciting creations of original and exciting musical offerings will be showcased as part of Hull Jazz Festival in November 2024. \nLast year saw the first Out of the Box collaborative project\, working in partnership with J-Night and we’re delighted that this has attracted grant funding from Arts Council England.  The experience of artists last year was that their collaborations led to further creative stimulation and work opportunities for all concerned. \nLast year’s initiative led to exciting opportunities for all the artists involved and it’s hoped to continue that trend for the five new collaborations\, creating ongoing artist opportunities and supporting our thriving music sector.

SUMMARY:RBL Festival of Remembrance 2024
DESCRIPTION:We’re proud to be part of the RBL Festival of Remembrance at Hull City Hall again this year. Our wind orchestra will be performing with the Humberside Police Concert Band\, nine-year-old Charlotte Lee and staff and students from St Mary’s College. \nThis year marks the 80th anniversary of D Day and other significant turning points in the Second World War. Join us\, for our musical tribute to our Armed Forces past and present and with us recognise the unique contribution made by service families both in times of conflict and in peace time. \nThe Festival of Remembrance will be led by Humberside Police Concert Band and Eclectic Wind Orchestra with performances from nine-year-old Charlotte Lee and staff and students from St Mary’s College. \nEarly bird offer – book now and save money. \nAll proceeds from the concert will support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

DESCRIPTION:This year\, Eclectic Music is working with the wonderful Stella Munthali and Black Heritage of Hull for their first ever festival\, Sound of our Skin (SOOS) as part of Black History month. \nThe Black Heritage of Hull Says: \nWe are excited to announce that ‘The Sound of Our Skin’ is launching this year on the 5th and 6th October 2024 and we want you to be a part of it! This festival is all about promoting racial equality\, celebrating diversity and amplifying marginalized voices. \nWith various events taking place across multiple venues along The High Street in Hull\, live performances will be happening within The Street Life Museum. \nWe believe that music has the power to break through barriers and connect people from all backgrounds.
