We’re very please to announce that one of our repairers, Noel Weston, has been awarded professional membership of NAMIR – the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers – as a woodwind and brass repairer. We believe he’s the only NAMIR professional member working in the East Yorkshire area.
From the NAMIR site:
NAMIR provides a dedicated craft association for the profession of musical instrument repair. We are passionate about the musical instrument repair industry and our core aims are:
- to promote high standards of workmanship and customer care
- to provide information exchange on techniques and parts availability
- to publish a quarterly journal
- to arrange social and technical meetings
Members are expected to abide by our code of ethics
Achieving professional membership requires a combination of experience and formal training in many aspects of repairing – it’s taken Noel 5 years to get to this point, and it’s an ongoing process, with further training courses planned for this year.
So, if your woodwind or brass instrument needs a repair or service, contact us or pop in to Maister House for a chat. For more information, see this page.
